Why was this re - design made?
I AM A HUGE FAN OF IKEA
IKEA Showroom is one of my favorite place to go to, not only because they sell lovely and smart designed furnitures, but also of the layout of the store, the design of the rooms and the Swedish foods. When I see my assignment is to re-design an shopping app, the first thing came to my mind was IKEA and how I can make it better.
DESIGNING PROCESS
I start my design process with analyzing the IKEA mobile app, make a SWOT analysis to see what is the Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats of the app in order to create something better. After that, I made flow charts of my version of IKEA app to see the scope of the project. Paper and digital wireframes were the next step before came up with the final UI Prototype in cluding color palette, icon design, typography, motion design.

WIREFRAMES
The original UI of the IKEA app is already clean and easy to use, I only made a little change on the bottom navigation bar and also the top carousel. On the top carousel, I add icons to all of the buttons, which is easier to understand, and also the icons match the style of the brand. For bottom navigation bar, I simplify it and add the text as well as change the icons a little.
DESIGN ELEMENTS
Iconography Design
Making a whole new sets of icons for the rooms was a fun challenge. I did a lot of research on how IKEA chooses their icons and I try to create something that matches the aesthetic.
